Stewardship Ministries recreate the settings of Jesus’ birth in the City of Bethlehem.
Entering the city of Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph had to be registered and pay their taxes. They rendered unto Caesar, what was due Caesar. Matthew 22:21 “They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.”
Unfortunately for Mary and Joseph, there was no room in the inn, no place to lay the head of a new born baby. He was born and welcomed by the shepherds and would be led like a sheep to be sacrificed for mankind.
Angels announced the birth of Jesus to shepherds in the field. They saw a star and followed it to the birthplace of the Savior of the world. Luke 2:8-12 “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:11 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
The Savior of the world fulfilled the prophecy and was born in the city of Bethlehem. Micah 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

Micah 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”
Isaiah 53:6-8 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”
The wise men traveled from afar to worship the newborn King. They brought gifts to offer the Son of God. Matthew 2:10-11 “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.”
The Savior of the world came down to earth, to be born in the lowly of smelly places (symbol of our sinful nature), the manger. John 6:38 “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”
The birth of Jesus, the Son of God, depicts the love the Lord has for us, His children. May we appreciate His gift of salvation. He came to earth so that sinful man like you and me would have eternal life.
