Managing and Generating Resources
One key area of our ministry is to ensure that effective stewardship education is provided to everyone. In addition to teaching regular and systematic giving, our strategic orientation document outlines our commitment to the following: “For the community at large, the church should offer education in managing personal finances, creating wealth, and other relevant topics” (Strategic Orientation Document). Across the globe, several Stewardship Ministries departments have embraced the initiative to address members' needs by teaching them how to manage and create resources.
One such initiative comes from the South Pacific Division (SPD). The SPD Stewardship Ministries is supporting a major project—the Practical Stewardship Camp in Papua New Guinea—where church members are being taught agricultural, trades, and entrepreneurship skills through the prism of “God First.” Skilled church members generously give their time and resources to teach new believers more than 25 different life skills, including income generation.
