Tithing in Kind

Tithing in Kind

Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

That’s the joy of Brother Bernabé. His story began many years ago, when he did not know God; he lived as he thought best. He owned a lot of cattle, sheep, and grain but never returned anything to God. One day while at home with his family, lightning struck and killed one of his sons. That experience had a great impact on him and his view of life.

Today, Brother Bernabé is a member of the Pulpera-Velille Seventh-day Adventist Church of the South-Eastern Mission of Peru in the town of Cusco. He is a deacon and manifests his faithfulness to God in a tangible way. He sets apart an appropriate number of his livestock to return to the Lord. Next month, he’s planning on returning 3 cows and 3 sheep to the church. His faithfulness is also reflected in his daily life as he puts God first. “God First” is something we hope many can affirm.

Tithing or giving “in kind” with their crops or livestock is one of the many ways people from around the world faithfully return their tithe and give their offerings to the Lord and bring Him glory!
