Leaders' Conference—Democratic Republic of Congo

The Stewardship Ministries' Leaders' Conference, focusing on mobilizing resources for the ultimate mission, has notably reinforced the dedication of local church leaders in the Democratic Republic of Congo, particularly within Kinshasa.

Nestled in the heart of Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo is segmented into three Unions: the Congo-West Union, the North-East Congo Union, and the Congo-East Union. These regions are collectively home to a vibrant community of over 800,000 members.

In January 2024, Kinshasa played host to this pivotal conference, which saw over 250 church leaders, including pastors and elders, come together under the guidance of Pastor Aniel Barbe, the associate director of Stewardship Ministries at the General Conference. The conference, which took place from January 14 to 17, was themed "Mobilizing Resources for the Final Mission." It aimed to instill a culture of faithfulness within church members, a critical aspect of their spiritual growth.

The conference's curriculum was comprehensive, touching upon seven key topics for study and discussion: the influences on the culture of faithfulness, the perceptions of leaders about generosity, the evaluation of member involvement in systematic giving, methods to enhance that involvement, the importance of educating members, fostering personal connections, effectively breaking down tasks for better individual and collective involvement, and exploring varied means to returning tithe and offerings.

Post-conference, the attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and an invigorated commitment to their roles within the church.
