Experiencing the SUD Stewardship Educators Certification Program in Bangalore, India

I was extremely excited when I was invited to be a delegate for the Southern Asia Division Stewardship certification program from February 21-23, 2023, in Bangalore, India. The registration took place from 10 am to 12 pm, efficiently and smoothly. The delegates were given a very sturdy backpack filled with stationery and resources.

After a very delicious meal, Pr. Ezras Lakra, Southern Asia Division President, presented the keynote address during the first session. He reminded us about the meaning of being a true steward. Our Division Stewardship director, Pr. S. Paulmoney, did the welcome and introduction. The Associate Stewardship director of the General Conference, Pr. Barbe took up the first training session.  He presented a foundational message, "Created and Redeemed to Be a Steward." His subsequent presentations revolved around these themes: Empowering members spiritually, Stewardship education for all segments of the church, and building trust. Pr. Paulmoney reminded us of the "God's first principle," the theme of the world Stewardship Ministries department. The third presentation, "Stewardship in the End Time," expanded on the pertinence of stewardship for our generation. This presentation was unlike what I have heard before. The day ended with a presentation by Vijay Sathe on Stewardship as a Matter of the Heart, never a compulsion.

Day 2 started very early with the local Union director, Pr. Rajdas Anandappa, speaking on the topic of 'Understanding the Stewardship of Time.' Elder Riches Christian, the CFO of the Southern Asia Division, presented after. He led us to face some hard facts by sharing the financial situation and challenges of our division. For me, it was an eye-opener and scary. He shared his dream of SUD becoming self-reliant, and I felt the participants captured the vision. 'The Sacredness of Tithe and Offerings' was another key topic presented by Elder Edwin Stanley.

Day 3 focused extensively on 'The Principles of Managing Personal Finances' for improved quality of life and partnership in God's mission. There was also a presentation on 'The Importance of Building Trust' to create a climate conducive to members' participation in giving. At the end of the 15th presentation, our program ended on a high note with each participant receiving a certificate of participation, the charge to apply and share what they have learned, and a prayer of dedication.

Inspired, blessed, and enthused, we left for our various locations of service across India.

Respectfully submitted by Pr. Dennis Sundaram
